Globular cluster in Serpens

This globular cluster was discovered by Gottfried Kirch  in 1702, although it was William Herschel who first resolved it as a star cluster. It is located in Serpens and it is thought to be one of the oldest globular clusters.

Distance to Earth:  24,5 light years
Visual magnitude: 5,6.
